Senior Manager – Cotton Procurement
Location: Ahmedabad | Experience: 10–15 years
Role Overview
Responsible for managing end-to-end cotton procurement and sourcing, ensuring the right quality, quantity and price to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the cotton procurement strategy based on production requirements and market conditions.
• Source cotton from ginners, traders, brokers and key cotton markets.
• Monitor cotton prices, arrivals, crop conditions and market trends to take informed buying decisions.
• Negotiate price, quality, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Ensure cotton quality as per required parameters such as staple length, micronaire, strength, moisture and trash.
• Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers and develop a reliable supplier base.
• Coordinate with Spinning, Quality, Planning and Finance teams for uninterrupted raw-material availability.
• Drive cost optimisation, supplier performance and procurement efficiency.
Candidate Profile
• Graduate in Textile / Agriculture / Commerce / Management; MBA preferred.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in cotton procurement, preferably with a textile/spinning organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Indian cotton markets, varieties, quality parameters and pricing dynamics.
• Excellent negotiation, commercial, analytical and supplier-management skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across cotton-growing and sourcing locations.
